Samuel N. Morris, Sr. was called to his heavenly home on February 27, 2021. He was born in Bedford, Virginia on August 13, 1940 to Cleve and Tidie Morris who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Morris and Dorothy Morris and three brothers, Charles, Thomas and Rev. James Morris.
Sam was a Master Mechanic for Sears and Roebuck, commendably retiring after 32 years of employment. He also was a charter bus driver for Precious Cargo Bus Company and was also a Roanoke City School Bus Driver. Sam was an exceptional bowler for many years. He was also an enthusiastic NASCAR fan.
Sam was a devoted member of Pilgrim Baptist Church for many years, under the Pastorate of Rev. Dwight O. Steele, Sr. He was a faithful member of the Gospel and Male Chorus. He dearly loved his church family and Pastor and 1stLady Steele.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his devoted wife, Bernice E. Morris; children: Dennis (Carolyn) Gray, Hickory, NC; Samuel N. Morris, Jr. (Mary) Roanoke; Burnice Vines, Roanoke, Rev. Denise (Victor) Smith of Suffolk, VA, Brian Morris, Roanoke, one step-daughter, Martina Hicks of Lynchburg, Virginia, brothers: Kenny Morris (Frances) Roanoke, Leroy Morris (Faye) Roanoke; Rev. John Morris (Peggy) of Roanoke, sisters, Geraldine Scott, Washington, DC; Patricia Boyd; Roanoke, Gaynell Hubbard, Roanoke, devoted furry friend, Czance and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021, 12 noon at Serenity. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. There will be public viewing at Serenity on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 2PM-6PM.
