Billy was born October 11, 1930 to parents William (Bill) and Alpha Morgan. He grew up in Kennard, Texas. He later moved to the Houston area where he met his future wife, Mary Pantel. In May of 1952, Billy was drafted by the U.S. Army. After joining, this small town, boy was sent to Korea where he received the "Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars; a UN Service Medal; a National Defense Service Medal; and a Good Conduct Medal. Billy said being across the world in Korea as a small, town country boy was an eye-opening experience for him. He returned home and married Mary Pantel on May 22, 1954. Billy began working as a Magnetic Inspector at Cameron Iron Works in 1951 – returning to work there, after his military service. He was a well, respected professional at Cameron, retiring from that company after over 40 years. As much as he liked his job – he really loved retirement.
