BENNETT-HASELRIG - Doris "Dee", 86, East Taylor Twp, peacefully transitioned to Glory on March 20, 2021 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA. Born on January 19, 1935 to the late Frank Boykin and Essie Cox-Boykin in Midway, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Charlie, Freddie, Joseph and O'Neal Boykin, husbands Paul D. Bennett and Donald Haselrig; son Timothy Bennett and son-in-law Bob Agnello.
She is survived by her loving children Deborah Y. Agnello, Darlene Weatherly, Bernard P. Bennett (Velista) Johnstown, PA, Sandra E. Nash, Baltimore, MD, daughter-in-law, Cara J. Bennett and godson Artie D'Angello Lightfoot. Also 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters Ruth Holifield (Cleveland), Ashton, MD, Mattie Charles (Spencer), Alexandria, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dee was the matriarch and last surviving member of the Bennett lineage. After the death of her first husband, Doris was the owner and operator of Bennett Hauling and Construction, Inc. for over 30 years. Upon retiring, she was a volunteer at the Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed working part-time for McIlwain School Bus Lines as a Bus Monitor for the Greater Johnstown School District. Doris was a devoted member of the Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School, Bible Study, served as a Deaconess, member of the Kitchen Ministry and sang with the Power of Praise Ministry. Doris is the Past Illustrious Commandress of Sahara Court No. 9, Imperial Court, an auxiliary of A.E.A.O.N.M.S., Inc. She is a Past Worthy Matron of Conemaugh Chapter No. 55, O.E.S. and was currently serving as Grand Ruth for Deborah Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Inc., Prince Hall Adopted, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Doris loved planting flowers. She enjoyed nurturing and arranging them at home and at church. She enjoyed cooking her signature dishes for special occasions and at the request of her children, family and friends. She especially enjoyed her outings with her first granddaughter and assistant care giver, Crystal K. Bennett. She also had a very special bond with her two fabulous, fun loving and phenomenal sisters. Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 639 Menoher Blvd, Johnstown, PA. Due to Covid-19, the family asks that everyone attending please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Public viewing 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. followed by a private family home going service. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Conemaugh Chapter 55, O.E.S., c/o Pamelia Nash, 148 Hudson Street, Johnstown, PA 15901 in memory of Doris.
