Dianne Cheatham Johnson, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Dianne was born in Jasper, Alabama on March 12, 1943, the daughter of William Butler and Vera Nell Dobbs Cheatham.

In 1955, her parents moved the family to Monroeville, Alabama. Dianne attended Monroe County High School where she was a cheerleader. It was while attending school that Dianne met the love of her life Johnny Johnson. After courting since the 8th grade, they married upon their graduation from high school. As newlyweds, they moved with their dog, Pierre, to Dallas, TX, where Johnny attended Mortuary School, while Dianne worked at a local bank. In 1962, they returned to Monroeville.
Upon their return, they started a family. They had two daughters, Jennifer Leah, and Tara Elizabeth. Dianne was devoted to her husband and her daughters, as well as volunteering in every capacity she could at the First Baptist Church of Monroeville and Monroe Academy.
In 1992, Dianne and Johnny retired to Orange Beach, Alabama. Dianne gardened, spent time with her family and friends, and walked Nugget, her dog. She spent hours with her five grandchildren, Jack, Catherine, Grace, John and Pete. To them she was Nana.
In 2016, Dianne, Johnny and their loving dog Sugar, moved to Birmingham, Alabama. This allowed Nana to spend even more time with her daughters and all of her grandchildren.
Dianne/Nana is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Johnson Fruin (Peter) and Tara Johnson Elliott (Paul), her five grandchildren, John Haninger Fruin, Catherine Dianne Fruin, Elizabeth Grace Elliott, John William Elliott and Robert Peter Fruin, her sisters Janice Saunders (Richard) and Kathy Stuckey (Sonny), her sister-in-law Julianne Johnson Quimby (Bobby), her nieces and nephews, Toby Quimby (Maggie), Jessica Harris (Ashley), and Julie Stuckey, her grandniece Kathleen Harris, her grandnephews Blake Quimby, Brad Quimby, Bryant Quimby, Preston Lowery and Steven Harris, and her great grandnephew Myles Quimby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her soulmate John R. Johnson, her sister-in-law Kathy Johnson, her nephew Robby Quimby and her niece Kristen Saunders Crandall.

Visitation was held at First Baptist Church of Monroeville from 9:45 am to 10:45 am on Saturday, March 27, 2021, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Graveside services followed at Pineville Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing.
