He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons and as church treasurer for many years.
TJ loved his family, and he always put them first. He was the best example of a Dad, Papaw, Great Papaw, and also has 2 great-great grandchildren on the way. He loved restoring antique cars (especially Ford Thunderbirds), NASCAR, fishing, taking trips to Florida, and always helping someone else in their time of need.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 70 years Charlotte Harkleroad, whom he loved and adored. He also has a daughter, Pam Lowry and Honorary son, Miguel Jacome; 2 granddaughters, Shelly Pierce (James), Carrie Crain (Brian). He has 7 grandchildren: Logan Stafford (Chelsie), Kennedy Meade, Kaylie Crain (Victor Hernandez), Kerrigan Crain, Kyler Crain, Kimber Pierce, and River Thomas Pierce. His great-great grandkids will be born in September and October. He was also Papaw to 4 bonus grand children: Justin, Savannah, Cheyenne, and Dakota Steffey. He is also survived by 4 brothers and 5 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents TC and Mable Harkleroad, and a brother Tommy, and 3 sisters: Vicky, Dorothy, and Susan.
A Celebration of his life will begin on Thursday March 25th at 5 pm at Akard Funeral Home, followed by the service at 6 pm. The graveside will be at the Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum March 26th at 12, Noon. Pallbearers will be Logan Stafford, Jimmy Harkleroad Jr, David Hinkle, James Pierce, Dakota Steffey, Chris Elias, Cortlan Denti, Shawn Stafford. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Crain, Jeff Harkleroad and Miguel Jacome.
