Retha Mae Goins Smith was born June 12, 1945 in Robeson County, loving daughter of the late Jessie Lee Goins and Ruth Smiling Goins and wife to the late John Walter Smith.
She was a faithful member of Union Light Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening and cooking. She dedicated her life to her precious family and enjoyed the times she spent with each of them, especially her grandchildren. Retha will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She passed away to her Heavenly home at the age of 75 on March 20, 2021.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by infant daughter, Baby Girl Smith; sons, Frank James Smith, Roger Miller Smith, John Ronnie Smith, Raymond Lee Smith; brothers, Charles W. Goins, Terry Goins, Jessie Andrew Goins; sisters, Juanita Diane Ward, and Esther Pauline Goins.
Retha leaves behind to cherish her memory, brother, Jessie James Goins (Martha) of Maxton; sisters, Annie Ruth Molina (Thomas) of Houston, TX, Mary “Susie” Tyner, Judy Strickland (Charles), all of Maxton; twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Union Light Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Union Light Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
