Diane was born April 3, 1966 to Harriet E. Greene and Robert F. Morton. Jr. in Lexington, Kentucky. She accepted Christ at an early age at Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington. She was educated in the Fayette County school system of Lexington, Kentucky. Diane was an honor graduate from Lafayette High School in 1984; and later an honor graduate of Transylvania University in 1988.

After graduation, Diane began working for the Federal Government as an accountant for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her dedicated service to the Federal Government spanned a period of over thirty-five years to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Federal Communications Commission, and the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Diane was a beautiful spirit with a heart of gold. Her passion was to serve and honor God. She loved her family and friends and was the true definition of a fashionista. She was die-hard fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team and the Pittsburgh Steelers Football team. Earth Wind and Fire Superfans, John and Diane traveled to see the group at least once a year.

As a faithful servant of God, Diane shared her gifts with Mount Hope Baptist Church and New Vision Ministries. Her contributions included serving as Trustee, Children’s Choir Director, Gospel Choir member, Praise Team member, Women’s Ministry Co-Leader, Outreach Ministry member and the Benevolence Ministry.

Diane’s service to the community spoke volumes about her character. She did everything with excellence. For over eight years, Diane was an active member with the Fredericksburg Alumni Chapter Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In 2013 Diane joined Mut’Im Court No. 224, Daughters, an Auxiliary of the A.E.A.O.N.M.S, Inc.

Diane leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of thirty-one years, John W. Washington, Jr.; her dedicated children, Adrienne N. Moore and John W. Washington, III; her devoted mother, Harriet E. Greene; her beloved father, Robert F. Morton, Jr. (Anne); her precious grandchildren, Jamari E. Moore and Jaydon E. Moore; four brothers, Robert Morton, III (Ula), Anthony Morton (Inga), Jeffrey Morton, (Gina), Vondale Morton; one sister, Adrianne Kavanaugh; two children by marriage, Krisynda Washington and Anita Washington, seven grandchildren by marriage, Teyvon, Davion, Shawn, Keyaun, Ajhaun, DaQuaun and Aujanae. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, god children, cousins, aunts, uncles and her best friend Vickie R. May. Diane was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Viola J. Greene and Harry W. Greene; and her paternal grandmother, Betty J. Morton.

A strong, loving, powerful woman of God, Diane Lorraine Greene Morton Washington will always be in our hearts.
