Graveside services was held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in Omega Cemetery with Rev. Andy Ring officiating.
Mr. Young was born April 30, 1958 in Worth County to James Walter Young and Jane Houston Young. He was a member of Poulan Baptist Church and was a retired Law Enforcement Officer. Mr. Young had lived in Worth and Tift County all of his life and was a 1976 graduate of Worth County High School. Walt loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and had many close friendships throughout his life. He was a dedicated and excellent husband and father. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the many children he loved and would buy gifts for these children who were less fortunate. He enjoyed trips to the beach with his family and was an avid gun collector. Besides his career as a law enforcement officer which spanned over twenty-five years, he also served as a volunteer fireman in Omega. Walt lived his life in the selfless service and protection of those in his community.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Tracy Hembree Young to whom he was married for thirty-one years; his daughter, April Young and her partner Kelley Helms-Hall of Sylvester; his daughter, Crystal Gottshall and her husband Shannen of Adel; son, Russ Young and his wife Michelle of Ocean Springs, MS; eleven grandchildren, Kayleigh, Gage, Reese, Justin, Brandon, Miranda, Austin, River, Cal, Eden, and Hadley; one great granddaughter, Harper; his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Steve Sutton of Poulan and Stacy and Robert Weaver of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Jackie Young and Joe and Nicole Young all of Shingler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
