Eric James Smith, age 59, was a loving husband and a caring grandfather.
On Wednesday, March 17th, Eric passed away peacefully in his dreams after a long battle with heart problems. He was born in Lapeer, Michigan. Eric Smith married Debra (Drake) Smith on August 7th, 1991 and shared a happy marriage with her for 30 years, and spent 36 wonderful years together. He was an amazing father to his four children, Stacey Greenless, David Greenless, Nick Greenless, and Chad Smith. He was also a loving grandfather to Haley Agee, Brooklyn Agee, Joshua Agee, Bradley Smith, and Grayson Smith.
Eric was a humorous, outgoing, and bright soul to be around, anyone who met him loved his company. He always had a joke ready to make, which made those around him laugh every time. For a majority of his life, Eric was a tradesman and taught the perfections of being a professional painter to his colleagues and mutuals. Along with painting, Eric loved to cook, he created many great dishes that live on within family recipe books. Eric’s memorable legacy will live on through his siblings, children, grandchildren, nephews, and friends. The memories he created with everyone around him will be sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He is preceded in death by his mother Katherine Smith and his brother Brian Smith. Eric is still survived by his brother Wayne Smith and his father Marvin Smith. Eric held a special place in his heart for his nephew Nick Smith. Although his passing was heartbreaking, his life is one to be celebrated.
