Mrs. Peterson was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling and seeing different places. While working for Regency Cosmetics she traveled to Paris and many other places. Mrs. Peterson joined the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and belonged to the Nu Master Chapter. She held a master’s degree and she was also awarded the Order of the Rose, the second highest award a member can receive. Mrs. Peterson went to work at WCHK in Canton in 1957.
Laura was very active in her community with the service league and many social clubs. Mrs. Peterson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cave Springs, Ga. Mrs. Peterson will be sorely missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her beloved brother, Mr. Norman J. Oakes of Leeds, Alabama, Nieces and Nephews.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her daughter; Mrs. Charlotte Peterson Christy, her husband; Robert Peterson, sister; Marion Levern Oakes Jurnigan; brothers; J.C. Oakes, Jr. and Harold F. Oakes.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday March 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Cave Springs, Ga.
A graveside service will be held on April 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
