On Dec. 26, 1930 she was married to Harley Ellis at Palmer. They lived in the Palmer area until 1946, when they moved to Lake View. Harley was employed at Hanson Silo in Lake View and Gen at McCullough Law Firm in Lake View. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake. She belonged to two bridge clubs and spent many enjoyable hours in the Rose Garden. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, and talking. She loved to read until she lost her sight.
On March 26, 1999 Gen passed away at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake at the age of 89.
She is survived by her daughter Jean and husband Paul Cavanaugh of Storm Lake; a son, Jack and wife Linda Ellis of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Iliah Dahlquist of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Agnes and Anita Kirby of Fonda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harley in 1986; three brothers, Frank, Burton and Joe; and three sisters, Ellen, Caroline and Alice.
