Barbara was the daughter of Jerry Harvey Sr and Mamie Tookes Harvey, she was the 15th out of 16 children. She was raised on her family's farm in Montezuma, Georgia. She was educated in the Macon County School System and attended Flint River Farms School and graduated from D.F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. She played basketball and had the honor of being crowned Queen of D.F. Douglass High School. She reigned from 1959 – 1960. She was happy to say that her oldest sister, Lillie Mae, sent her gown all the way from Rochester, New York. After her marriage, her new role as a military wife, Barbara traveled the world as a military spouse and lived in Giessen, Germany, Fort Ord, California, Fort Lee, Virginia, and retired in Tampa, Florida.

Barbara was married to Master Sergeant Maxwell C. "MC" Jackson on March 24, 1963 in Rochester, New York. They were married for 42 years until his untimely death in 2007. She was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Lillie Mae Harvey Hines, Maude Harvey Colson, Annie Lee Harvey Harden, Jimmie Lou Harvey Chandler and Mamie Harvey McLarty, and 8 brothers, Jerry Harvey, Jr., Claude Harvey, James Harvey, Allen Harvey, Joe Louis Harvey, Isaac Harvey, Fredrick Ward Harvey and Reverend Dr. Willie Gene Harvey.

Survivors:
2 Daughters: Trudy Douglas and Melody Bingham(Lewis).
1 Sister: Rosie Marie Harvey Carter.
3 Brothers: Lucious B. Harvey(Virginia), Larry Harden and Harry Harden.
3 Grandchildren: Kisha Douglas-Dorsey(Johnnie) Staff Sergeant Freddie Douglas Jr and Jasmine Chester.
2 Great Grandchildren: Jayda Douglas and Royal Douglas.

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11AM in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor Allen Waters officiating.
