Born on February 9, 1956 to the late Alvin Joseph Shifflett and Barbara Lavern Moon.
Darlene is preceded in death by her late husband, Kenneth Wayne Houchens; her father, Alvin; her aunt, Margaret Ann; mother-in-law, Sarah; and her grandmother who raised her as her own, Eddie Mae.
She is survived by two daughters, who she loved dearly, Tammy Sue Meadows and her husband Lawrence and Agnes Renee Jacques and her husband Kevin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Crystal, Joshua, Kenneth Meadows, Richard, Bridget, Albert Jacques and two step-grandchildren, Frances Farish and Cheyanne Meadows. She has one great -grandchild and five step-great-grandchildren, Grayson, Mary, David, Serverus, Lilith and Harper; a special aunt, Charlotte and a special nephew, Thomas Houchens.
