Matthew Brandon, private, served in North Carolina with The King's Mountain Men, p 151, NCDAR, Roster of SOLS From North Carolina in the AM REV, p 479. Service: Col Joseph Graham. DAR A013778.
He also served in the Second Dragoons under Capt. Francis Moore, Lt.Col. Charles Myddleton and General Sumter during 1781. Salley, Doc., page 81; A.A. 707A; M360.
1780 - Rowan, N.C., He was a Lt. under Capt. John Bandon and Col William Richardson Davie in the N.C. State Calvary, Western Division. He became a Lt. after Lt. George Locke was killed at the battle of Charlotte. Capt. John Brandon was his brother. N. C. Patriots 1775-1783, Their Own Words, Vol. 2, Part 2.
