SHINNSTON, W.Va. — Frank Louis Rose, 65, of Shinnston, WV went to be with our dear Lord and Savior on March 21, 2021, at United Hospital Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 11, 1955, to the late Patsy Rose and the late Sarah Jane (Demarco) Rose, both of Shinnston.
He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Don Bartlett and Ellen “Louise” (Wagner) Bartlett and his grandparents: Sam Abruzzino and Victoria (Rose) Abruzzino, and Frank Demarco and Mary (Perri) Demarco.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kathy (Bartlett) Rose; one daughter, Maranda “Mandy” (Rose) Bowen and husband, Shane; two grandchildren who were his favorite people in the world: Frankie Lee Bowen, his little mini me and Ella Rose Bowen, his little “cooky”; two sisters: Mary “Patty” (Rose) Moran and Sharon (Rose) Sears; one brother, Patsy Rose Jr. ; four brothers-in- law: Chuck, Bobby, Davie and Ronnie Bartlett and one sister-in-law, Donna Kay Palmer. Frank is also survived by many nieces, nephews and very special cousins.
If you knew Frank, you knew his love of family, his friends and anything with wheels! He started working with cars at the age of 13. That’s the path he followed for his entire life! He briefly worked at a full-service gas station owned by his Aunt and Uncle in Laurel, Maryland as a teenager and numerous car related jobs around Shinnston where he made so many lifelong friends. He was loved by so many! He was an ASE Certified Master Technician and could fix anything that you put in front of him. He was the guy to go see when you couldn’t figure something out, you would leave with a fixed problem, every time. He was an avid Dirt Track and Nascar racing fan. He was well known in the dirt track world for his engine building abilities and even grabbed a few championships along the way. During hay season, you could find him in the fields with his father-in-law, Don, helping out. The love that he had for his family was unparalleled. Growing up in a close-knit Italian family, cousins weren’t cousins, they were your bonus brothers and sisters! His mother always had Spaghetti Sunday’s, every single week. He even opened “Frank Rose Automotive” right beside his parents’ home. That meant morning coffee/breakfast with his mom and dad before starting work for the day and daily visits from his dad, just coming in to see what he was working on. He made sure that anyone that needed something, got it! His favorite role in life though, was “Pap”! He thought the world of his grandkids, and they of him. He was so proud to take them out and about when he could. He even did school pick-ups on occasion, usually followed by a milkshake and a visit to “Demarco’s” for goodies. He was a loving husband to Kathy, and an amazing father to Mandy. Frank was also involved in his community. He was a member of the American Legion Post #31, the Knights of Columbus, The Columbian Club and the Odd Fellows. He was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston, where he was an alter server as a young man.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the CCU staff at United Hospital Center for their compassion and kindness. Frank was a fighter, through and through, he had a long hard fight. Now he can rest in Heaven with his loved ones.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike Street, Shinnston, WV on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 2 - 8 p.m.
