Samuel Christopher “Sam” Dickerson, 83, of Henderson, NC, died Thursday, September 3, 2020, at a local nursing home.

Born in Vance County, NC, he was the son of the late Roy Booth Dickerson Sr., and Malla Gresham Dickerson.

Sam retired as owner and operator of Sam Dickerson Plumbing Company for over fifty years. He was a loving and caring husband, daddy, father-in-law and papa. He loved playing tennis, ping-pong, playing the piano and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, September 8, 2020, in the First Baptist Church Memorial Garden, Henderson, conducted by Dr. Ron Cava.

Surviving were his wife of fifty-eight years, Betty Harris Dickerson, four daughters, Susan D. Johnson (Greg), Paula D. Newman (Chip), Leigh D. Ayscue (Rob) and Elizabeth D. Sipes (Justin); eight grandchildren, Kasey Newman, Blake Newman, Barrett Johnson (Kaitlyn), Anna Johnson, Blair Ayscue, Brooke Ayscue, Chloe Sipes and Harper Sipes. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Love Joy D. Evans, Iris D. Addison, Elsie D. Adams and Edith D. Woods and three brothers, D. Furman Dickerson, Roy B. Dickerson, Jr. and Grady G. Dickerson and one grandchild, Robert Bruce “Bobby” Ayscue III.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be made to ACTS, P.O. Box 25, Henderson, NC 27536.
