Raised in his beloved home town of Green Isle, Minnesota, Roger graduated from Arlington High School, class of 1955. Roger then attended and graduated with a degree in chemistry, class of 1959, from Saint John's University where he also completed Army ROTC. After graduating from college and being commissioned as Second Lieutenant, Roger served 6 months on active duty at Fort Knox where he served as Commander of an Armored Company. Following active duty, Roger continued as an officer in the Army Reserve, where he attained the rank of Captain, before receiving his honorable discharge in 1967. During that time, Roger began working at International Milling as a chemical engineer, before moving on to Univac, Unisys, Bay West, and Ford Motor Company where he held positions in pollution control and chemical engineering.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his mother Margaret, and his brothers, Joe, Jack, Wayne and Terry.
