MINERAL RIDGE — Virginia L. “Ginger” Harris, 75, of Mineral Ridge, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Girard, the daughter of Paul and Leah Lancaster Durig.

She was a 1964 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and a graduate of The Choffin School of Nursing with a LPN Degree.

She was employed at Northside Hospital as an LPN and also a manager at McKenzie Square in The Eastwood Mall.

Virginia was a member of Victory Christian Center in Coitsville.

Family was most important to her and the time she spent with her family brought her much joy. She loved gardening, crocheting, cooking, and baking at the holidays and she loved spending time relaxing by the water while her husband fished.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, David L. Harris, whom she married Sept. 3, 1966; two daughters, Lisa (Randall) Welker of Lordstown and Stacey (Michael) Hanshaw of Niles; two sons, Aaron Harris of Mineral Ridge and Trevor (Jennifer) Harris of Bowie, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna and Bethany Linert, Jennifer, Matthew and Tanner Welker, Kyle (Jessica) Hanshaw, Kayla, Kelsie and Brennan Harris and Caleb and Lizzie Harris; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Verda) Durig of Mineral Ridge; three sisters, Patricia McKenzie of Hubbard, Pamela (Edward) King of Fowler and Janet (David) DeCesare of Mineral Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charles, Thomas, Shannon and Doyle Durig; and two sisters, Edna Moomau and Retta Glover.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, until the time of the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Social distancing and facial coverings are mandatory.

Burial will be in Greenhaven Cemetery.
