September 13, 1925 ~ February 1, 2019 (age 93)

Richard “Dick” G. Whitney, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Bettinger Whitney. He was born on September 13, 1925 to the late Harold and Dorothy Roberts Whitney.

Dick was a United States Naval Veteran serving in WWII from 1943 – 1946 on the U.S.S.
Dennis J. Buckley.

After his service, he worked as a Repair Technician for Addressograph-Multigraph in New Haven, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the North Branford and Newington Fire Departments for over 30 years.

He was a Supernumerary Police Office for the Newington Police Department and Dick was also a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge #88 in South Windsor. Dick enjoyed traveling with his wife Shirley. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his three children, Joan Treadow of Waterford, Susan Whitney of New Haven and Walter (Wendy) Whitney of Wallingford. Also survived by three grandchildren, Stephen (Kate) Treadow Jr., Rachael and Hannah Whitney.

Family and friends may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5 pm - 7 pm.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11am.

Interment to follow at Bare Plains Cemetery with full Military Honors.
