Earl was the youngest son of the late Edward and Clara (Ropp) Eichler. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 532 New Hamburg, and the KW Rabbit Breeders Association. He was also a founding member and past president of the Waterloo County Trail Riders Association. As a member of the Emergency Rescue Communications (ERC) , Earl followed many competitive trail rides, ensuring that riders were safe and on track. In his senior years, he enjoyed making wood crafts, playing cards with his best friend, Bonnie Mitchell, and camping at Willow Lake Campgrounds next to his niece Diane Stere and her husband, Hugh. His "Tiny Carpenter Shop" provided many hours of fun for families who purchased his "racehorse games."
Dear husband of the late Frances (Thom) Eichler who predeceased him in 1986. Devoted and loving father of Brenda Robinson in Baden and foster father to Linda Defoe of Cambridge.
He will be lovingly remembered by the Eichler and Thom families and many nieces, nephews and friends. Earl was predeceased by his siblings, Wilson Eichler, Phyllis Linder and Richard Eichler.
