Knoxville - James David Shipley, of Knoxville, Tennessee died at UT Medical Center on March 2, 2021 after a short illness. He was 57. James was born on June 7, 1963 to Robert and Jeanette Shipley in Knoxville TN, the third of four children.

Known as 'David' within his profession, he spent nearly 30 years in the Janitorial and Sanitation industry, moving through sales and purchasing ranks, and at time of passing was serving in his favored position as Director of Brands at Kelsan. He enjoyed many professional successes but treasured most the personal relationships forged throughout the years. He considered many of his colleagues to be family. Family and friends will remember him for his quick wit, warmth, endearing charm and ability to make others feel valued. All who are broken-hearted by his untimely death will also be comforted by the legacy of his heartfelt gestures.

He is survived by his Father, Robert G. Shipley, his Wife Barbara, his Son Derek (fiancée Kaylee Neal), his stepchildren Ashley, George and Nicole (Cory), Grandson Brantley, Sister Janet Tuck (Jeff), Brother Robert (Jessie), Sister Debra Oglesby (Jack), and the Mother of his son, Tracy Shipley. James was preceded in death by his Mother Jeanette. He also leaves behind two nephews and two nieces and many beloved family members and friends from all walks of life.

Family and Friends are invited to gather and say goodbye at a Life Celebration held at Bridgewater Place on Thursday March 25, 2021 with visitation starting at 5:30. Memorial service will begin at 7 pm. Please bring your fondest memories to share. Memorial Donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank. Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway is serving the family.
