Lewis P. Grant, Sr., 83 of Somersworth passed away Tuesday October 26, 2021 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

He was born July 15, 1938 in Ipswich, MA the son of William Grant, Sr. and Flossie (Day) Hunt.

Lewis served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962. While serving on the USS Lake Champlain he had the honor of participating in the mission associated with Alan Shepard's return from space.

Lewis was an avid New England and Beverly, MA Sports fan. He loved golf, bingo, and trips to the Ipswich Wharf.

Members of his family include 5 children, Laurie and Ronald Newsome of Sanbornville, William Grant of Somersworth, Gail and Brendan O'Sullivan of Somersworth, Marcia Grant of Somersworth and Lewis Jr "Chip" and April Grant of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marcia & Arthur Glidden of New Durham, and Joanne & Eugene Richard of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Lois (Spates) Grant, a sister Norma Donahue and two brothers William Grant, Jr. and Francis Smith.

Visiting hours will be Sunday October 31, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by the funeral at 3:00 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. Burial will be in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale, Maine.
