JANUARY 23, 1926 – MARCH 17, 2021

Virginia Mae Wood Cox, 95, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Brookdale Senior Living. She was born January 23, 1926 in Bloomington to Bert Wood and Irene Thompson Wood. She was a retired cook.

Survivors include three sons, Ron (Sissie) Cox of Florida, Terry (companion Karen) Cox of Spencer and Dennis (Cindy) Cox of Pierceton, IN; two daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Dennis of Utah and Teresa (Lou) Kolinek of Bloomington; ten grandchildren, Lisa, Derek, Angie, Paul, Tiersa, Mireille, Keeli, Everett, Mary and Zach; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Lyon and Rossetta McKee both of Bloomington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton Ray Cox, Jr.; a son, David Cox; three grandsons, Josh, Robert and Justin; two great grandsons, Anthony and Jacob; and her beloved dog, Patches.

Virginia had been a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and is now a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, other memberships included TOPS, Sweet Adeline’s and the Red Hat Society. Virginia was proud to have been the first women to be in the Marching 100 at Indiana University. She had been a cook for many years at University High School, the Exchange Home and Bloomington Hospital.

No services are planned at this time; a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel.
