Dunn, NC: Mary Maxine Thornton, 89, of US Hwy. 301 North, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at The Carrolton, formally Cornerstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunn. Graveside Funeral Services will be at 12:00PM-Monday, March 22, 2021 at Harnett Devotional Gardens outside Dunn, NC. Rev. Wanda Barrier will officiate.

Miss Thornton was born on May 14, 1931, to the late James William Thornton and Lillian Denning Thornton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Lou Strickland. Miss Thornton retired from Morganite and was a member of Leslie United Methodist Church.

Surviving include a niece, Lou Jean Webb Manning of Robersonville; a nephew, Larry Claxton Strickland of Dunn; one grand-niece and three grand-nephews and four great grand-nephews and two great-grandnieces.

The family will receive friends following the Graveside Service on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Harnett Devotional Gardens outside Dunn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Leslie United Methodist Church, 277 Stewart Road, Dunn, NC 28334.
