Rita was the beloved wife of the late Loren Cook for 54 years. She was the loving mother of Marcia (Gary) Smith of New Braunfels, TX, Colleen Cook of O’Fallon, MO, and the late Kathy Cook and Carol Buie. She was the cherished grandmother of Jason, Adam, and Rickey Buie & Johnny Mitchell, Emily (Buie) Hengehold, Christopher and Timothy Smith and Jessica (Smith) Auxier. In addition to Loren, she was preceded in death by her treasured daughters, Carol Buie and Kathy Cook, and her much loved grandsons, Kevin Smith & Jeremy Buie, as well as her sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Davis. She was the proud great-grandmother of fourteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Marilee (Jim) Graham and her brother, Donald Hamilton. She was a dear aunt to many.
Rita was employed for 25 years at Olin Corporation in East Alton, IL. She co-managed with her husband, a Gun Club/Ranch in West Alton, MO and retired from Boeing after fifteen years of service in 2000. Rita loved to swim, garden and was a talented seamstress and cook, who blessed many of her family and friends with her gifts over the years. She was a “good and faithful servant” to many and she will be sadly missed.
A Memorial service for Rita, will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville, MO. Fr. Nord will officiate.
