Mr. Howard Milton Collier, age 74, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. He was born on September 22, 1941 in Newport News, Virginia to his parents James Collier and Mary Collier. Howard was the eldest of two children. He was raised in Middlesex County Virginia. He graduated high school from Middlesex High School, June 6, 1960 with his diploma.

He was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves when he met and married Marlene Collier Campbell (nee Miller), and had three children. Later, Howard and Marlene divorced, but remained close.

Howard retired from Cox Enterprises as a Car Auction Manager.

Howard will be remembered by his loving family and is survived by his daughters Paula Collier; Amy Collier Shipp and her husband Daniel Shipp; his son Benjamin Collier and his wife Corrie Booker Collier; his granddaughters Elizabeth Stubelt Morgan and her husband Dayne Morgan; Emileigh Stubelt; and Kelsey Booker; his sister Carolyn "Mavis" Wiggins and her two children Chris and Stephen Bloom; his uncle Harold Hickman; and several cousins. Also, his dog Tippy. Predeceased in death by his father, James Howard Collier and his mother, Mary Collier.

His love of life showed in everything he did. He wore many hats and took pride in his work. From the Marine Reserves, to truck driver, deputy sheriff, Cessna airplane pilot, RC pilot, and car auction manager; he experienced life and lived it to the fullest. His stories were among the best and would engage anyone who took a moment to listen, and will continue to be shared by his family. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping all of his life. He was an avid RC flyer who designed, built, and flew many airplanes including his own CAM Special. He loved model trains as well and built many 'N Gauge' scenes.

The cremation took place on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Southern Cremation & Funeral at Cheatham Hill in Marietta, GA, where he was tended with honor and compassion. The scattering of ashes will take place in the summer of 2016 at The Dragon Run in Virginia, where Howard loved to fish.

The family is grateful for the condolences. Cards and flowers may be sent to the family at 228 Azalea Circle, Cumming, GA 30040. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A Gift of Love, a charity that helps school age children in the community with food, personal items, and care they may need. This charity was special to Howard and his RC flyers club, where fundraisers and donations are regularly made.

In honor of his memory and his love of his family, friends, coffee, and cobbler, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Tiffany's Kitchen, 7413 Lee Rd., Lithia Springs, GA 30122 from 3pm – 6pm.
