He worked in lumber camps, glass factories and tanneries. He was a natural mechanic, working at that all of his life.
In 1936, he moved to Montana to work on Fort Peck Dam. He then went to work for a rancher and bought an adjoining farm.
He married Marion E. Greb, a school teacher. They had two children.
He later married Mae Elledge and raised her children, Norman and Kaye, as his own.
In 1960, he bought a farm in Missouri. His neighbors, the Shepherds, became life-long friends.
He liked to travel, read and help his neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Evelyn; and two great-grandsons.
Surviving are his two children, Barbara K. and Clifford L.; six grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were May 21 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with Mike Gorman officiating. Burial was in the Patterson Cemetery.
