A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Frank Ernest Brown, Jr. departed this life March 27, 2020. The family will receive friends on the anniversary of his passing, March 27, 2021, from 10am to 11am, at Ascension Funeral Parlor, 1016 Hillcrest Rd., Mobile, AL. Interment will immediately follow at Magnolia Cemetery (Virginia Street gate). Frank attended McGill Institute, and graduated from Murphy High School in 1961. He served in the US Air Force Reserves, and was a member of The American Legion, Fowl River Post 250. He retired from Strachan Shipping after 30 years, and was a member of ILA Local 1459. An avid golfer, Frank won quite a few local tournaments in his day; partnering with his father, celebrities and pros to promote the Pensacola Open and other national, regional and Pro-Am events. He was an absolute Crimson Tide fan, and loved telling a good Alabama-Auburn joke. "Roll Tide Roll!" Frank was also known to appreciate old westerns, vintage cars and firearms, Gulf seafood, beautiful redheads, fine cigars, good sipping whiskey, and smooth jazz. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.E. Brown, Sr. and Margaret K. Bromley Brown. He is survived by two sisters, Sharon B. Richmond and Judith B. Kling; nephew Karl David Kling; nieces Katherine K. Riley, Ann Marie Ramsey, and Mary Beth Vindich (Maj. David A. Vindich, USMC, ret.); brother-in-law John S. Kling; cousins Linda B. Holman and C.T. Bromley III; six great nieces and nephews, and five great-great nephews; lifelong friends L.G. and Mary Jo Teel, and Pete and Paula Thrift. Special thanks to his great niece, Samantha Vindich, nurse mgr., and the other nurses and staff at Providence Hospital; the staff of Covenant Care at Providence; and Fr. Stephen Vrazel; thank you all for your care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Frank's favored charities- Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Hospitals for Children Burn Center, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
