Obituary - "Brumlow, TX, Jan 29 - We are called to chronicle a very sad death, that of C.C. Parish who passed away on the evening of the 26th inst. Apparently in his usual health, sitting reading, surrounded at home by his wife and three children, he was called very suddenly and without warning, just speaking a word and was gone. C.C. Parish was born on May 26, 1842, in what is now the state of Florida. He was a veteran of the Civil War, and was severely wounded, which gave him intense suffering until the day of his death. He leaves a wife and six children, of whom four were living with and near him....In 1886, he came from Alabama, and settled on the farm where he was living when called from his labors to rest. In his loss, the family has lost a kind father, and the wife a devoted husband, and the community one of the best neighbors we ever lived by. But I would only say to his dear ones, he has only gone before to place a light in the window for the children." (per The Wise County Messenger dated 1 Feb 1907).
