Arthur was born on the 26th of June 1909 in Conestoga, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Thomas Clayfield (1864-1944) and Caroline Struck (1866-1913). He had eight brothers and sister.
On the 7th of November 1931 he married Janet Houser (1911-1991) in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
He passed away in 1975 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
