Wanda Jean Friedrich Powers
Sparks - Wanda went to rest in the arms of her Savior on January 10, 2018. She was born July 24, 1943 in Advance, MO to Lawrence E. and Dorothy E. Friedrich. She moved to Burley, ID in 1958 as a sophomore, where she graduated from Burley High School in 1961. She married Ernie Gene Powers on February 10, 1962; also a Burley High School graduate. They moved to Elko, NV and managed the credit bureau there for two years. In the fall of 1963 they moved to Reno, NV where they both worked for the Nevada Credit Rating Bureau. Wanda later retired from the State of Nevada after 28 years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Ernie Powers of Sparks, NV; daughter Connie Jean Bland (Ken) of Reno, NV and son Ken Gene Powers (Tracie) of Sparks, NV; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters, with 1 great-grandson on the way. She is also survived by her siblings, Don Friedrich, Kathleen Dick, Doneva Saylor, Brenda Bettis, and Ralph Friedrich; all of Idaho.
Wanda and Ernie enjoyed many years creating lasting memories camping, cruising, traveling together, as well as staying in their winter condo in Lake Havasu, AZ.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arbors Memory Care for their loving care of Wanda over the past year.
A Celebration of life will be held for her at a later date.
