Funeral services for Helen Louise Bailey Browning of Vaiden will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at Oliver Chapel with burial following in the Enon Methodist Church Cemetery near Vaiden. Rev. Freddie Matthews and Rev. Eddie Johnson will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Friday, July 16, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Browning died of heart failure on Thursday, July 15, at Vaiden Community Living Center in Vaiden. She was 85 years old.
Mrs. Browning was the daughter of the late Byron Thomas Bailey and the late Sarah Shell Grant Bailey, and the widow of the late William Mead Browning. She was a homemaker and a former employee of J. A. Olson Company and McGregor Manufacturing. Mrs. Browning was a member of North Winona Baptist Church in Winona. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Wayne Browning and Ben Frank Browning; a grandson, Richard Earl Browning; four sisters, Irene Jacks, Dorothy McCluskey, Barbara Beckwith, and Willie Mae Scarberry; and two brothers, Benny Bailey and Marcus Bailey.
Survivors include four daughters, Louise Huggins and her husband, Charles, of Vaiden, Vera Mitchell and her husband, Norman, of McCarley, Sarah Johnson and her husband, Sammy, of Winona, Peggy Garver and her husband, Robby, of Lexington; three sons, John Browning and his wife, Donna, of Jackson, Robert Browning and his wife Mary Lee, of Winona, Alan Browning and his wife, Pam, of Vaiden; three brothers, Byron Thomas Bailey, Jr., and his wife, Nell, of Charlestown, Indiana, M. C. Bailey and his wife, Juanita, of Newport News, Virginia, Robert Bailey and his wife, Brenda, of Athens, Georgia; one sister, Charlotte Scarberry, Pelahatchie, MS; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Downs, Wayne Browning, Preston Huggins, Thomas Carraway, Ben Caine, Scott Browning, and Kevin Browning.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Browning, Eddie Johnson, and Timothy Mitchell.
