Raymond Baker, age 91, passed away on March 15th, 2021 at Taylor House Hospice.

He was born on April 30th, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Raymond attended East High School, he was a gifted athlete who was inducted into the East High Hall of Fame for running track and held the low hurdle record for countless years.

After graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Army.

Raymond worked as a plumber and steamfitter for many years and was a member of the Plumber & Steamfitters Local #33.

He held many memberships in his community, which included being the longest attending member of Staves United Methodist Church, Shriners Bowlers Unit, and served 50 years for East Gate lodge #630, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, and the Scottish Rite.

Raymond had a heart of gold and loved to help others, he especially enjoyed giving rides on the golf cart at the Iowa State Fair for the Shriner Children’s Hospital fundraiser.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Rosella and Bernard Baker, Sr.; brother, Bernard Jr.; sister, Ellen; and great-grandson, Anthony Joseph Gillum.

Interment will be held at Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines.
