Alma Louise Payne Bobb, 107, passed away at Country Meadows of Hershey, on Sunday, March 14, 2021.

She was born on November 29, 1913, in Wichita, Kansas, to Margaret Ellenberger Payne and Chester Johnson Payne.

When Alma was growing up, she spent most of her summers at her maternal grandparent’s Front Street home in Harrisburg. She was an active member of Harrisburg’s Junior League.

She became a professional dancer and graced many stages in the United States and in Europe until Alma married James E. Bobb and started a new life in Hershey. After Jim’s passing, she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to be near her son and grandchildren. In 2011, Alma started another beginning by moving back to Hershey by train (riding them was her passion).
In 2013, she hosted her 100s gala birthday party for family and friends. Alma was very proud of being a guest lecturer for new medical students on “what it is like to be old”. She also modelled for the Medical Center Wives Fashion Shows.

Alma is survived by her son, Dr. J. Woodman Bobb; her granddaughter, Jamie A. Bobb Murray; and her grandson, Justin K. Bobb.

She enjoyed her many years at Country Meadows and reconnecting with old friends in Hershey and Harrisburg.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in her church, Derry Presbyterian Church, Hershey, with inurnment in the church’s cemetery.

Donations in Alma’s memory may be made to the “James E. Bobb Professorship in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, at the College of Medicine, Hershey Medical Center, 600 Centerview Drive, A550, PO Box 855, Hershey, PA 17033.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
