Joseph D. Barton, 87, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 15, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Linda B. (Craven) Barton for 36 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Smith) Barton.

Joseph served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed as a supervisor in the telephone industry for many years before retiring. Joseph enjoyed traveling, skiing, boating, relaxing, and spending time at his home in Jamestown.

He was the loving father of Karen E. Hayes (husband, John) of Cumberland, Kerry E. Flamand of Jamestown, and Kristen E. Barton of North Kingstown; devoted grandfather of Ashley Garland (husband, Robert), Jennifer Hayes, Lindsay Rotondo (husband, Derek), Emily LaBelle (husband, Anthony), and Joseph Martinelli (wife, Ally); great-grandfather of Joshua Garland, Samantha Garland, Noelle Rotondo, and Ezekiel LaBelle; brother of Emma Besson of California, and Elaine Blackwood of Connecticut. Joseph is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Amanda Mayo; and siblings, Bernice Arey, Al Barton, and Patricia Curtis.

A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 pm on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. The funeral home staff will be monitoring safety and capacity protocols. Face coverings are respectfully required, and social distancing will be observed.

His funeral service and burial with military funeral honors will be private due to health and safety protocols.
