Mary Mildred (Woodhouse) Miller
Mary passed away on January 19, 2021 in Riverside, California at her home with her children by her side. She was born to Earl and Mildred Woodhouse on June 25, 1930 in Brawley, California.
Mary graduated from San Jose State University in 1952. She worked as a librarian while getting her teaching credential at the University of Redlands. She taught in Elementary schools in Riverside for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, William Edward Miller. She resided in Riverside most of her adult life. She was a member of Native Daughters, and past President and lifetime member of the Women's Auxiliary for Veterans' of Foreign Wars.
Mary enjoyed the outdoors and nature, walking, hiking, gardening, and bird watching. She was also very creative and spent time sewing, crocheting afghans for family members and friends, and scrapbooking picture memories. She was a lifetime learner and loved to read books and explore new places. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. We remember her beautiful qualities, such as her sweet smile, her caring nature and ability to stay calm. She was an advocate of the Golden Rule – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. She will be loved, cherished and always in our hearts.
She is survived by her children Diane Coleman, David Miller, Stephen Miller, Mary Tinklenberg, Carolyn (Albert Sagami) Miller, William Miller Jr., grandchildren Sarah Coleman, Michael (Lindsay) Miller, Melissa Tinklenberg, Kenneth (Chelsea) Tinklenberg, Daniel Tinklenberg, brother Robert (Mary) Woodhouse and sister Margaret (Glenn) Dahlquist.
