Ruth E. Allen, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:07 pm March 16, 2021 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born March 3, 1937 in Franklin County, Illinois to the late Richard and Lillie (Klinker) Newbury. Ruth married Marvin Ray Allen on January 3, 1953 and her preceded he in death on October 10, 1971.
Ruth is survived by her significant other, Jack Caudill of Mount Vernon, Illinois; two sons, Richard Ray Allen and wife, Rhonda of Woodlawn, Illinois and Jeffery Lee Allen of Dix, Illinois; two daughters, Vicki Jean Allen of Albion, Illinois and Kathy Ellen Gutzler and husband, Rick of Dahlgren, Illinois; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Jake Newbury of Steger, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers.
Ruth worked at the Coast to Coast Hardware store in Mount Vernon for thirteen years. She was a member of the Mount Vernon Moose Chapter #1624 (W.O.T.M.) and the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 Auxiliary. She is dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Belle Rive Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow.
