Grace V. Richardson-Johnson, daughter of the late Isaac L and Clara Tyler-Richardson was born
September 24, 1919 in Lake Como, NJ. She graduated from the Manasquan School System. She
confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. Grace loved the Lord. In September 1946, she was
united in holy matrimony to William H. Johnson, and from their union five children were born.
Grace was employed in various seamstress industries in her early years. During her time in church she
served in the choir and other ministries.
She was a devoted homemaker. Over the years while taking care of her own children ,she and her
husband opened up their home to many foster children. Her generous spirit provided a loving, nurturing
environment to all. Grace enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially during the holidays, baking
her cookies, cakes, rolls and other goodies.
Grace leaves to cherish her daughter Penelope Batchelor of Tinton Falls, NJ, son William Bart Johnson of
Smyrna, DE. Three grandchildren, Haywood Batchelor Jr (Nadia), Manalapan, NJ , Howard Batchelor, Jersey City,
NJ and Nina Johnson, Neptune, NJ. Four great-grandchildren Olivia, Aiden and Ethan Batchelor ,
Manalapan, NJ and Imala Grace Johnson, Neptune, NJ.
Her sister Gloria Richardson-Henriques of Neptune, NJ. Sister-in-laws Vita Richardson in Spain and
Shirley Edwards and her husband Landeis, Arlington, TX. Daughter-in-law Geneva Johnson, Beaumont,
TX and many other loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Grace was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, William H. Johnson, who passed away in 2014.
Three sons, Bruce C., Bradley E. and Timothy B. Johnson. Five sisters Isabell Kennedy, Bertha Battle,
Laura Harvey, Cora Richardson and Susie Stewart. Three brothers Isaac, John and Paul Richardson.
Sister-in-laws Marie Richardson and Lois Richardson and son-in-law Haywood Batchelor Sr. The family of
Grace Richardson-Johnson, would like to thank all her family and friends who took the time to send a
