Phillip Erold Medina, loving and devoted father of three children, passed peacefully into the arms of our heavenly father on March 1st, 2021, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Clarence Medina, his brother Steve Medina, and his son, Jeremiah Medina.

Phil Medina earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver. He worked as a traffic engineer for the City of Arvada for many years before a shift in his career path brought him to the Denver International Airport as the Senior IT Administrator for Airport Security. He loved his job at DIA, and was with the airport over 20 years before retiring in 2016.

Phil Medina was a very intelligent, creative, and funny man whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of many people. As a recovering alcoholic with over 28 years of sobriety, he invested much of his time outside of work and family to helping those who struggled with addiction. He was very involved in the AA community and will be remembered as a man blessed with the ability to inspire love and hope in others. Using wisdom garnered through many hard lessons, he had a remarkable ability to encourage others through stories, told from his own life experiences as well as the wisdom he sought from books and history. Phil was a brother to those in need, a father to those without, and a friend to those most in need. His love and respect was given freely to friends and strangers alike, without hesitation. He was playful, and loved to laugh and tease, never missing an opportunity to drop a well-timed joke or pun. He was a man who valued knowledge, always striving to know more—and he shared that enthusiasm for learning with his kids and grandkids, often using his infamous dollar questions and the subsequent discussions to inspire curiosity. God blessed him with many gifts and talents which included playing the guitar, singing, writing stories and poetry, woodworking, painting, computers, athletics, and engineering. He loved fishing trips, golfing, the Broncos and most of all watching his grandchildren grow and develop their own unique personalities and talents.
