James Thomas Crabtree, age 96, of Petersburg was born on October 24, 1924 in Madison County, AL to Willie Wright and Lillie Elizabeth Fugham Crabtree. He passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired machine operator for Eaton. He married Billie Joplin Brown on August 30, 1947 and they were married for 63 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Crabtree; daughter: Kathy (Roy) Wiser; sister: Lela Beatrice Moulthorp; and brothers: Thalton R.C. Crabtree and Herman 'Bud' Loyce Crabtree.

Mr. Crabtree is survived by his daughter: Marcia (Jerry) Marion of Estill Springs; son: Doug (Linda Bird) Crabtree of Shelbyville; sisters: Dorothy Virginia Zwiel, Annie Lillian Brown, Margie Ruth Crabtree and Frances Idabell Gibson; brother: Cecil Ray Crabtree; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Nerren officiating. Visitation is Friday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will following Old Orchard Cemetery.
