George Alan Grant was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Ralph and Jessie Grant. George lived in Alabama until his family moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida. His parents bought Gulf Breeze Cottages in 1961, which consisted of 28 individual units. It was here that George learned the joys of leaf-raking, painting, roofing, septic line digging, and other general maintenance jobs.
He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1967 and attended Troy University and joined the U S Army in 1968 and served in the Army and then Reserves until 1975. His primary duty in the Army was Military Police. After his stint in the Armed Forces, George sold tools and supplies from the Snap-On-Truck. He also established a home business making wire cages for local pet stores.
After a brief and sudden illness, George died March 15, 2021 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Grant Polke (Floyd). He is survived by his significant other, Ilene Rosenbaum, 2 brothers, Ralph D. Grant (Sue) of Montgomery and John L Grant (Alice) of Gulf Breeze, FL
The funeral will be graveside at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity.
