She was the daughter of James Burchard and Mary Ijams. Her death certificate lists year of birth as 1872, though headstone shows 1873.

Texas marriage records indicate that Montie Burchard wed H. Z. Browning in Parker County on May 11, 1893.

The 1914 obituary for J. B. Burchard lists Mrs. H. Z. Browning of Corpus Christi among his surviving children ("The Daily Herald," Weatherford, Texas, October 9, 1914).

Survivors included five sons, E. L., J. K., and Zeke Browning of Corpus Christi, Joe D. of Mathis, and Col. P. Y. Browning of Alexandria, Virginia; and five daughters, Mrs. Bernard Dunn and Mrs. Luther Terry of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Albert Barrett of Alexandria, Virginia, Mrs. Richard Morrison of San Antonio, and Mrs. R. A. Votaw Jr. of Robstown. She was also survived by a brother, W. F. Burchard of Temple, and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Humphries of Fort Worth ("Corpus Christi Times," November 29, 1959).
