James Frank Kerr passed away on February 13, 2021 in Orland, CA . He was 74.

Born August 13, 1946 in Alturas, CA Jim graduated from Modoc High School in 1964. He was a PFC E-3 in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. After the Army he graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Jim was an Undertaker who began working at Hall Bros. Mortuary in 1971 and eventually purchased the business in 1996. He owned Hall Bros. until he retired in 2012.

He joined the Corning Volunteer Fire Department in 1971 and served for 50 years, including as Assistant Chief. He devoted his time to numerous organizations, including the Corning Jr. Rodeo, Corning Lions Club and Corning Rotary Club. Jim was also a proud member of the Modoc Tribe Ride, starting out as a bartender in 1977. Every year he had to have special shirt just for the Tribe Ride which had to be brightly colored and wildly printed. He loved driving his 1913 Ford Hack Model T in the Olive Festival Parade carrying "Ms. Olivia" herself.

Jim is survived by daughters Jami Thibodeau (Adam) and Shani Kerr, grandchildren Jordan Peton (Logan), Tristan Peton and Logan Thibodeau, great grandchildren Maeson, Alaena and Maddox, all of Redding; brother and sister in law John and Pat Kerr; niece Cheryl Knoch; nephew Jeff Kerr; and great niece Sierra Kerr, all of Alturas; great niece Courtney Knoch of Truckee; and Melissa Knoch of Boise, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents , Don Kerr and Wilma Ballard Norris; step-father Carl Norris; and great nephew Gabriel Kerr.
