William L. Hayden, Jr., age 83, of Lake City passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on October 26, 1937 the son of the late William L. and Mary Angelo Hayden.

Bill attended Commodore Perry High School. He worked for the Fairview School District in maintenance for over 47 years until his retirement in 2005. During that time he had been appointed to buildings and grounds coordinator, also was President of the PSEA ESP of Northwest Region for over 20 years. He owned and operated Hayden Motel in Fairview from 1964 to 1972. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and camping. He was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed NASCAR and car races, and was a Ford enthusiast. His biggest joy was his family and they meant the world to him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Sherry Ordiway Hayden; five sons: John (Wendi) Hayden; William "Billy" (Pat) Hayden, both of Girard; Gary Hayden of Fairview; Randy Hayden; Robby Hayden, both of Erie; two daughters: Cindy (Peter) Mannarelli of Fairview; Laurie Hayden of Cranesville; three stepdaughters: Viki (Ken) Dunkle of Warren, Pa.; Marcia (Robert) Maher of Butler, Pa.; Barbara Leonardi of Rockville, Md.; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and may attend a funeral service there on Thursday at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
