Fred was predeceased by his mother, Eva Joy Caldwell; father, Dr. Robert M. Caldwell, Sr.; sister, Dink Fawcett; and his grandparents, Robert and Sarah Lovill.
Fred is survived by Claudette Elizabeth Patton Caldwell (Libby), his loving wife of over 52 years; daughters: Amber Smith (Todd) of Sugar Hill, Ga., Shane Marriott of Duluth, Ga.; grandsons: Trotter Smith of Dahlonega, Ga., Ethan Smith of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Austin Marriott of Duluth, Ga.; sister, Sara Anne Caudle (Dorman) of Advance, N.C.; and brother, Robert M. Caldwell, Jr., (Susan) of Evans, Ga.
Fred was born and raised in Mount Airy, N.C.
After graduating from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., Fred attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Fla. He went on to a career of sales in the snack foods industry and is known by some as "The Legend". His larger-than-life personality blessed him with never working a day. He loved people, his work, and his customers turned into long-time, close friends.
Fred loved hunting, fishing, casinos, and time on Lake Lanier with his family. He never missed his grandsons' basketball, baseball, or soccer games and was always on the front row whistling and cheering the loudest.
Fred's life will be celebrated at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home, 1190 McEver Rd, Gainesville, GA 30504 Tuesday, March 9th with visitation at 1:00 PM and service at 3:00 PM.
His body will be laid to rest at Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy, N.C., on Thursday, March 11, 2021, with a private family graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Ronnie Green Heart Center, c/o The Medical Center Foundation, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 115, Gainesville, GA 30501, or Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, PO Box 691, Gainesville, GA 30503.
