rs. Juana Leyva Hernandez, 64, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 after a brief illness.
A Mass of Resurrection Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
A native of Mexico, Mrs. Hernandez had made her home in the Ayden, NC. She and her husband owned and operated La Azteca Tienda and Tortilleria. She attended St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hernandez will be fondly remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who lived for her family. She supported each and every one of them in their lives and always was there for them to offer guidance and advice. Mrs. Hernandez was a wonderful cook who loved bringing her family together. Her family will always remember her many special meals and how she prepared extra so anyone could take some home. She will be so missed by her family and the friends that knew and loved her.
Mrs. Hernandez was preceded in by her parents, Antonio Leyva and Glafira Acevedo, brothers, Vicente Leyva and Antonio Leyva.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jose Guadalupe Hernandez; daughters. Christy Hernandez and husband, Jose Morquecho of Snow Hill, Glafira Ontiveros and husband, Javier, of Ayden and Maria Gallinoto and husband, Robbie, of Grifton; Grandchildren, Rebecca and Damien Gallinoto and Kaylee, Ethan and Annelie Ontiveros; Sisters, Rosa Leyva and husband, Salvador Patino, Virginia Leyva, Carmen Leyva, Leonor Leyva and Victoria Leyva.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
