On Saturday March 13, 2021, Shirley A. Brooks (née McCleary) of Westminster, Maryland passed away at the age of 74.
Born January 3, 1947 she was the daughter of Millard (Mac) McCleary and Estie McCleary of Butler, MD. Shirley was a 1965 graduate of Hereford High School and married the love of her life on June 30, 1967 in Anchorage Alaska.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 53 years Thomas (Butch) Brooks, their sons Gerald Brooks and former wife Karen, Brian Brooks and partner Elizabeth Mosko and Bruce Brooks and wife Stephanie. Her favorite title was Mom Mom to Courtney Stinchcomb (Brooks) (husband Charles (Chucky) Stinchcomb), Bridget Brooks, Taylor Morgan, Bella Mosko, John Mosko, Mia Brooks and Maximus Brooks.

Shirley is also survived by her sister Bunnie Blizzard, brother Millard (Mickey) McCleary and wife Elsie, and brother Terry McCleary as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her mother, Estie McCleary and sister Mary Jane (McCleary) Graefe.

Shirley was retired but had worked for the United States Postal Service in Westminster, MD for several years.

Shirley was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a kind and generous woman willing to help anyone in any way she could. She was passionate about gardening and bird watching as well as spending time with her family and friends. She served as Matron of the Parkton Chapter #42 Order of The Eastern Star in 1979. She was an avid reader and lover of music as well as a crochet enthusiast. While she didn’t like planes, she loved to travel to visit family and friends and see new things.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 10 am – 12 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will follow at 12 pm.

Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD. Masks are required. (Due to the worldwide coronavirus; AKA: COVID-19)
