Obituary for Goldie Marie Wilridge Bray

Jennings: Goldie Marie Wilridge Bray was born the sixth of seven children on June 5, 1935 to the late Thomas & Wittie Coleman Wilridge in Branch, LA. The Lord called his servant home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
She was a 1954 graduate of Ross High School in Crowley, Louisiana. She continued her education at Grambling State University earning her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She later successfully received her Master degree from McNeese State University. She loved the field of teaching and dedicated herself to the field of education for over 30 years at Ross Elementary (Crowley-Acadia Parish), traveling from Jennings to Crowley daily.
Mrs. Bray was united into holy matrimony to the late Mr. David Bray for over 61 years until his passing this past February. Together they shared the love of family and friends including bowling and “Club 21”. Together they shared their greatest love, their only son, Shawn Q. Bray. At an early age, she accepted Christ at Maryland Chapel CME Church in Branch LA. After moving to Jennings, LA with husband, David she united with Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Bray family. Later, she became a faithful member of Union Baptist Church of Jennings, LA under its spiritual leader and teacher, Rev. Gerald Perkins. Until her lengthy illness prevented her, Goldie was active in both her church and community. She was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church Celestial Choir, and the UBC Senior Mission. She was also a dedicated member of the Mildred Shay Jones Alumni Chapter of Grambling State University and the Rosebud Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation until she could no longer participate. She was known by everyone for her beautiful smile & heart-filled laugh.
