Bob Schmitz, 89 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, March 13, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in the Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Arledge officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps.

Robert Leo Schmitz was born on October 28, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; he was the son of Leo J. and Josephine (Lawson) Schmitz. Bob grew up in Oklahoma City and attended John Carroll Catholic High School. After graduation he enrolled at Oklahoma State University. He was then drafted into the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He served overseas participating in several operations. Bob was honorably discharged in 1952 and returned to Oklahoma. Bob was united in marriage to Maxine A. Halko on May 2, 1959 in Okarche, Oklahoma and they made their first home in Oklahoma City. Bob and Maxine moved to Woodward where they have owned and operated Woodward Concrete for the majority of their life.

Besides work, Bob loved to attend his grandchildrens sporting events, he was always there to cheer them on whatever the sport. He enjoyed the simple things in life and he loved his family and his country.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his wife Maxine of the home; sons, Steve Schmitz and wife Carol of Laverne; Kenny Schmitz and wife Mona of Woodward; Jim Schmitz of Woodward; daughter, Amy Goodman and husband Lance of Edmond; nine grandchildren, Ashley Schmitz; Austin Schmitz; Dalton Schmitz; Tanner Schmitz; Zach Schmitz; Conner Schmitz; Bryson Goodman; Parker Schmitz; Hayden Goodman; one great-grandson, Mason Schmitz; one sister, Mary Brown and husband Russ of Washington state; several other family members and friends.
