James Sawyer was born October 31, 1946 and entered eternal life on March 12, 2021. He was 74 years old.

A graveside service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Jarratt Cemetery under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.

Jim worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell in Tyler.

He earned his Associates Degree in Art from TJC.

He loved painting, selling many of his oil paintings at a local coffee shop and also had one of his paintings as a cover of a CD.

He was also an avid golfer.

He loved cooking and collected many vintage items.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Sawyer and Alice Pauline Beck; his first wife, Teresa Sawyer; and his brother, Curtis Clifford.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years Karen Sawyer of Henderson; three sons, Jimmy Ray Sawyer and wife Renee of Tyler, Scotty Sawyer of Colorado, Joel Sawyer and wife Jenny of Keller; a daughter, Sara Davis and husband Tim of Dallas; two stepchildren, Vanessa McElroy and husband Chad Cook of Dallas and Doug McElroy and wife Melissa of Crowley. His siblings are Becky Cole and husband Les of Rockwall and John Sawyer of El Paso. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; James, John, Caden, Carson, Adelyn, Amelia, TJ, Teresa, Samara, and Malory. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
